Hosting the Homeless

 Rotating Shelter

Trinity regularly opens its doors for a week of hosting the overflow of homeless men from the Delonis Center in Ann Arbor. Volunteers stay overnight, transport the men locally, and provide snacks, clothing and friendship as we provide a warm, indoor haven from the winter elements. Contact coordinators Joyce Stein or Sandy Schmoker.

Alpha House:

Trinity is one of several local congregations who host for a week at a time at Interfaith Hospitality Network at Alpha House, the local shelter for homeless families www.alphahouse-ihn.org. We host 2 weeks each year, one in the summer and one in the winter.

Our summer week is July 30-August 5, 2012.  We are in need of volunteers to prepare and serve dinners each night as well as weekend breakfasts, to supervise the children's play hour each night from 7-8, to spend the night (one person is needed and they get their own room and can sleep), and to contribute to a large inventory list of supplies for the week.  Look for a sign up sheet on the website or  contact Kathy Schoof for more information (kkschoof@yahoo.com).

Homeless Task Force (Formerly known as Camp HOPE):

A group of people from Trinity and MISSION A2 have been working together to address the needs of the homeless population in Ann Arbor.  One potential ministry was to host a Tent City on Trinity's Property.  After much discussion and research, this is not a possiblility at this time.  However, the group continues to meet to work on ways in which we can encourage the city of Ann Arbor to more directly address this issue.  We welcome all input and invite all to our meetings.
