Do you remember the delicious anticipation of all of the adventure that awaited you when you woke up to each summer morning  as a child?

Enjoy the the sound of the words and the beautiful pictures painted in this passage from this evocative summer poem:

My sleeping children are still flying dreams
in their goose-down heads.
The lush of the river singing morning songs
Fish watch their ceilings turn sun-white.
The grey-green pike lances upstream
Kale, like mermaid's hair
points the water's drift.
All is morning hush
and bird beautiful.

--From Summer Dawn by Spike Milligan

I love the idea of flying dreams as we might fly a kite...

What are some of your favorite summer sounds, sights and smells?
