Luke 6:31

Today I had coffee with Melanie Blackney, the intern working with Trinity’s new senior ministry, The Senior Connection. Melanie was kind enough to educate me about the groups’ mission, startup plans and their need for volunteers. In case you’d like to learn more about this vibrant new ministry, here are some of the basics.

The vision of The Senior Connection is built around 4 values: Fellowship, Service, Education and Wellness. The group meets every other week with a special luncheon on the last Monday of every month. There will be trips to the theater, Tigers’ games and other fun and enriching outings.

In addition to providing opportunities to get together as a group, this ministry is geared toward providing concrete assistance to our seniors. To this end, there are two types of outreach that need our help.  Senior Ride Connection and the Trinity S.O.S. Program (Serve Our Seniors).

Senior Ride Connection has been developed to assist some of the seniors with transportation not only to Trinity based events but also doctor’s appointments, shopping, banking, etc. Please consider lending your name to this vital ministry. If lots of people add their names to this list even for an hour or so here and there, everyone will benefit!

Trinity SOS Program serves our senior members by providing help with everything from garden clean up assistance to legal or tax advice, computer coaching, car problems, etc.  So each of our varied gifts are relevant here.  And not just the gifts of adults--Young people have much to offer too and might be amazed at the friends they make. There are so many possibilities. Let's put or heads together. If you wish to get involved, please contact Melanie or Sonny Roller.
