The Meditation Garden

Crosses in Spring - Meditation Garden
Gazebo in Winter - Meditation Garden

The Meditation Garden, located outdoors behind the sanctuary, is dedicated to the glory of God, in loving memory of Trinity members who have entered the church triumphant, and for the enjoyment and benefit of God's children.

The three crosses in the garden are a reminder of the three crosses of the crucifixion.  The three dimensional cross radiates its arms in all directions showing that God's grace and love reaches out to all of His children.

The bridge was built for the celebration of Trinity's 100th anniversary in April of 1993.  It symbolizes the history of the church and its journey into the future.  It also is a symbol of passage from earthly life to heavenly life.

References to many of the plants in the garden can be found in the Bible.  For example, the oak tree in Hosea 4:13; the lily in Hosea 14:5, the myrtle in Isaiah 41:19 and the apple in Song of Solomon 2:5.

The seasons of the church calendar year are represented by specific colors.  The plants in the garden were chosen to subtly correspond to the colors of the church season.  For example, vinca minor has purplish flowers during Lent; viburnum has white flowers during Easter and blue-black berries during Advent.

The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame.   You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.
Isaiah 58:11
