Rev. Lori Carey, Lead Pastor

Pastor Carey came to Trinity as Lead Pastor in April of 2000 after serving as Co-Pastor of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Portage, Michigan for ten years and as Pastor at St. Paul's Lutheran in Vincennes, Indiana for four years. A graduate of Berea College in Berea, Kentucky, she recieved her Master's of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. She has served the larger church as a Stewardship Resource person, an ecumenical dialog participant, and as Co-chair and participant on Synodical and Regional Worship Committees.

A strong desire to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others is what drew Pastor Carey into ordained ministry. She enjoys a love for worship and music of various styles. She is very interested in the life stories that others share. At the center of her work as a pastor is the belief that God calls diverse people into congregations at specific points in history for a purpose. "The job of the congregation, then, is to discern our various gifts and discover how God would work through the unique people of God in this place."

Rev. Gretchen Bingea, Pastor

Pastor Gretchen Bingea has been serving at Trinity since March, 2002. Previously she has served the Lutheran Church in Michigan, California and Iowa. A native of Minnesota, she graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN with a degree in Religion. Her seminary training was done at Luther Northwestern Theological Seminary in St. Paul, MN and Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, CA. She has served in both campus ministry and parish settings, also working as a supply and interim pastor.

At Trinity, Pastor Bingea works closely with the staff and lay leaders of the congregation in shared ministry. She and Pastor Carey serve as a team in worship leadership, teaching, visitation ministry, and relating to the missions and commissions of the parish. In addition, Pastor Bingea works closely with the Small Group Mission team to oversee the development of small groups at Trinity. As a life-long Lutheran, she heartily endorses Martin Luther's understanding of "the priesthood of all believers," encouraging members to live out their baptismal callings as Christians in the church and the world.
