Quilting Group

Quilting08.jpgThe Trinity quilting group normally meets  on the second Tuesday and Wednesday of each month from 9:00 a.m.—2:00 p.m. and that Tuesday night from 7:00-9:00 p.m. to work on quilts to send to Lutheran World Relief

A LWR quilt is special! It brings warmth on a cold night, shelter from the sun on a hot day. It becomes a bed, a room divider, a backpack to carry belongings, and at times even a home. LWR has 65 years of experience working with its partners, local faith- and community-based organizations around the world, to identify where the need is greatest and to distribute the materials effectively and efficiently. In 2015 Trinity Quilters are sending 215 finished quilts to Lutheran World Relief for distribution! In 16 years, the Quilting Group has completed over 4000 quilts.  LWR distributed a total of 412,710 quilts, 191,415 school kits, and 261,854 personal care kits kits to 720,000 people in 23 different countries that have been devastated by war and natural disasters. The largest number of quilts went to Tanzania, Thailand, Sierra Leone and India.

Quilts are made from donated materials, so contributions of

  • woven material
  • flat sheets of any size
  • blankets and flannel sheets
are always welcome and may be dropped off in the church office.
