Christ Caring For People Through People

Stephen_Ministers02.jpg

“Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

Galatians 6:2

Is anybody there? Does anybody care?

Stephen Ministry equips lay people to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. Stephen Leaders are trained leaders who oversee and direct our Stephen Ministry.

Since 1995, the Stephen Ministers of Trinity Lutheran Church have provided the support of a caring Christian friend to members of our congregation and community. Pastors will always be on the front lines of care, but there are always more needs for ongoing, one-to-one care than pastors can effectively meet by themselves. Stephen Ministers are God’s instrument of care who are here to listen, pray, and encourage you during your time of need. The journey to wholeness includes the person in need (care receiver), the caregiver (Stephen Minister), and God. This is a confidential ministry. The identity of those receiving care and what takes place in each caring relationship remains private.

Our Mission Statement

As Stephen Ministers, our mission is to act as a conduit of God to care receivers by showing up to listen without judgment, remain confidential, be patient and compassionate, so that nobody has to bear their burdens alone.

Could you benefit from the confidential, one-to-one care and support of a Stephen Minister? Do you know someone else- perhaps a friend, neighbor, coworker, or relative- who could benefit from Stephen Ministry? In time of crisis, all you need to do is call and speak confidentially with a pastor to request a Stephen Minister.

“Your presence is worth much, much more than words. Your presence communicates to the other that he or she is valued, precious and beloved. Your presence brings not only the gift of yourself into the relationship, but also, in and through you, the gift of God.”
